More than 30 members of Arizona Rotary clubs and their student-led Interact Clubs needed just under two hours to fill 1,000 backpacks with school supplies at a special Back to School Clothing Drive event on April 25 at the American Furniture Warehouse in Glendale.
The flurry of activity in a conference room overlooking the warehouse floor capped off Arizona Rotary District 5495’s first “Rotary Week of Service” that featured community-service projects throughout the state.
On hand for the event were Rotary Club District 5495 Governor Elizabeth Mahoney and Governor-Elect Bret Mckeand. Back-to-School Clothing Drive provided the backpacks with school supplies provided by Rotary.
