Hi everyone!
This will be our last Open House for 2023 and we will have a challenge, a full meeting and a special treat. For our challenge, this Saturday is Veterans Day and the City of Phoenix will be honoring these special people with a parade. The parade will begin at 11:00 AM heading south on Central from Montebello to Camelback. It will then turn east on to Camelback and proceed to 7th St and end at Indian School. If you are coming from the north, you cannot, unless you go south on 7th AVENUE and go east on McDowell then go north via 3rd Str or 7th Str. You could go east beyond 7th Street then go south to McDowell and go west to 7th Street. It will be a nightmare if you try to go through the parade and you will be struck in traffic. I would suggest 1-17 south to the 10, go thru the tunnel and exit at 7th Str and go north.
Our meeting will be held promptly at 10 and I hope 30-45 minutes. Our special treat is from Shirley Burns. She sent us a donation in memory of my husband and wanted me to buy goodies for us. So I am planning to have small sub sandwiches and chips. I will have a thank you card for all of us to sign for her. Shirley and I worked together and started attending Stitches of Love together. She moved back home to North Dakota several years ago, but does keep up on all we do.
On a sad note, Ann Stuart has passed away. Ann is the Mother to Susan Kirsch (who used to run Stitches before me) and Beth and Mary who helped us with distribution every year. Celebration of her Life will be held on Tuesday, November 21st at 11:00 am at Hansen Desert Hills at 6500 E. Bell Road, Scottsdale. They are also planning on a light lunch afterwards. It is not necessary to let them know if you are going to the services but they would like an RSVP to the luncheon so they can plan the food properly. Please email Susan at [email protected] by November 11 if you will be attending the luncheon.
Thank you all for everything you have been creating.
We hope to see you Saturday.
Sandy
