Hi everyone!
Our next Open House is this Saturday and we will have the same process as prior months, a mask is required, please no guests and no meeting. We will be there from 9:00-12:00 for you to drop off your inventory and pick up supplies for the next month with the busiest time from 9:30-10:30.
June 12 is our final Open House and this will be the deadline for turning in items, we will not be extending the deadline. Will Sharpening will also be there to sharpen your scissors. Prices start at $5.00 and he will sharpen them while you are dropping off your inventory and selecting supplies.
As a donation, we received a Bernina 930 sewing machine along with the funds needed to service the machine and purchase a new foot pedal. This is an older, very heavy model and includes additional feet however no manual. After having the machine serviced and foot pedal purchased, because of the weight we have decided to sell this machine for $450.00. The owner of the Bernina Connection said the value of the sewing machine is $500.00. We will have this machine set up for a test drive if you are interested in purchasing it.
I know it has been awhile, but we received a large donation from Jureta’s family of her sewing supplies. We have gone through these supplies and will have tables set up outside with the items for give away. It’s a mixture of notions, yarn/supplies, fabric and many, many books.
The latest inventory will be on the website in the next few days.
The word is now official, we will not have distribution again this year. There will be a family drive up at Gila River Arena for Luke AFB on Wednesday, July 20 and 4 schools on Thursday. July 21. Backpacks will be stuffed by Airmen from Luke AFB. We will be giving them the accessories to be put into the backpacks for the kids along with items from BTSCD. We will then do what we did for the schools last year. Per the students registered, we will select clothing and accessories and box per school with the kids name inside for the districts to pick up at the BTSCD office. This process will be from the end of August into September.
